In this episode of the Pacey Performance Podcast, I am speaking to Senior Physiologist & Lead Sleep Scientist at the EIS, Luke Gupta. Sleep is still a hot topic when it comes to discussions around recovery with elite athletes. But with a growing body of research and a lot of talk around its importance, I still think there is a confusion of how to action a lot of it in the real world. But this is where Luke comes in as he works alongside multiple disciplines (S&C, sports science, psychology, etc) and with a large diverse group of players. It was a great chat with Luke which I think you will really enjoy!

If you enjoyed this episode with Luke Gupta and want more information on sleep science, I have previously spoken to Ian Dunican, Meeta Singh and Shona Halson.

In this episode we discussed…

  • Who is Luke Gupta (background, experience and current role)?
  • How should we approach sleep in sport?
  • How is sleep regulated? And, why does knowing this matter?
  • How should we measure sleep?
  • How should we manage sleep?
